Newly updated Laws of Guyana launched – When will they be available digitally?

Congratulations are in order, to the Ministry and Minister of Legal Affairs as on Monday 23 March 2026, the physical volumes of the updated laws were launched at the Arthur Chung Convention Center. These updated laws deal with laws, amendments and subsidiary legislation created by Parliament up to 31st December 2022. The last law revision exercises were completed in 2012 and 1998 respectively.

Perhaps the most important question not covered in the speech of the AG is – When these new laws would be uploaded and be available for public use?

The bound volumes are useful for Lawyers, Judges and Public Officials. The public at large and foreign investors who use digitally available resources to complete due diligence and research on Guyana’s Legal Business Architecture would like to rely on the most up to date Laws to make their decisions.

As a final thought on the digital legislation’s accessibility and usefulness any user of the 2012 version of the Laws of Guyana on the Ministry of Legal Affairs website will know that the text of the legislation can not be copied. Hopefully, when the 2022 version is published digitally it will not have this restriction, as it would be useful in research and reports for people to copy a section of the law they would like to refer to without having to retype the whole thing.
